This is an album about booze. Lots of booze. As suggested in the title, this album fucking rips.

Their name is Shithammered. The album - okay, EP, whatever - it’s called Atomic Sodomizer.
Do I really need to say it again? Atomic. Sodomizer.
You’re still here? Alright, fine. The artwork.
Ever heard of Chris Moyen? What about Archgoat? Incantation? Beherit? No? Not ringing any bells? Yeah, me neither.
Well anyways, the cover art of Atomic Sodomizer was not done by Chris Moyen. However, these covers were:

It seems fairly clear that Atomic Sodomizer’s cover art - created by Harris Goregallery - is an homage to Moyen’s work. The “white figure on a black background” has become a staple of the scene, typically associated with blackened death/thrash metal. While it is rather well done (at a glance, my first impression was that the art was done by Moyen), there are distinctions between the style used here and Moyen’s trademarks, most notable being the approach to shading. Regardless, the parallels between the album art and Moyen’s work are rather on-the-nose, so it hits the mark nonetheless.
Now that the artwork is on the table, to put such a style on an album cover would be to assert one as akin to the misanthropic blackened death metal bands that regularly seek it out. Don’t worry; Shithammered absolutely lives up to this assertion. They’re more thrash than death, but all the misanthropy is there. They’re aware of this, of course. They do describe themselves as “black thrash from the gutter” that is “eternally dedicated to all heavy metal drunks, boozebags, speed freaks, and fuck ups.”
Look, I’m not going to oversell this one. If screaming guitar solos, drunken revelry, and a grown man belting “ATOMIC… SODOMIZE-RRRRRRR!” over crunchy thrash riffing isn’t your thing, I doubt you’d have much fun with this album. Being a man of sophistication, I’m having a blast.
“IT’S FUCKING WHISKEY TIIIIIME!”
P.S. Shithammered - or Inebriator and Steinhämmer - have self-released this album on a Name Your Price basis on Bandcamp. If you had as good of time as I, go show them some support, even if it’s only a little bit.
